Manpower Survey Results in April 2024

Total employment decreased by 2,000(-0.02%) in April to 11,579,000; however, it increased by 73,000(+0.63%) when compared with that of the previous year.

The unemployment rate declined by 0.02 percentage points to 3.36 percent in April; moreover, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate also declined by 0.01 percentage points to 3.39 percent; the 4 weeks unemployment rate declined by 0.11 percentage points to 3.38 percent. The number of unemployed persons was 403,000 in April, a decrease of 2,000(-0.56%) and 14,000(-3.52%) from the previous month and that of the previous year, respectively.

Labor force participation rate declined by 0.03 percentage points to 59.21 percent in April; however, it rose by 0.03 percentage points from that of the previous year.

NOTE: 4 weeks unemployment rate was compiled by the ILO definition of looking for a job in the past 4 weeks including the reference week.
