Total employment increased by 6,000(+0.05%) in December to 11,583,000; moreover, it also increased by 132,000(+1.15%) when compared with that of the previous year.
The unemployment rate declined by 0.01 percentage points to 3.33 percent in December; in contrast, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose by 0.03 percentage points to 3.40 percent. The number of unemployed persons was 399,000 in December, a decrease of 1,000(-0.25%) and 19,000(-4.60%) from the previous month and that of the previous year, respectively.
Labor force participation rate remained at 59.26 percent in December; however, it rose by 0.09 percentage points from that of the previous year.
