| Coverage characteristics | 5.1.1 Statistical presentation Data are disseminated on the stock of external assets and external liabilities at the end of the reference period for the following prescribed components: direct investment, portfolio investment, financial derivatives, other investment, and reserve assets. These are further classified by instrument and by sector. Data are disseminated in millions of U.S. dollars on the international investment position (IIP) . The data are compiled in accordance with the methodology set out in the sixth edition of the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPM6). |

The data are also posted on the CBC website (https://www.cbc.gov.tw/en/lp-513-2.html) at the same time as the press release. The data are subsequently published in the 2nd quarter edition of the Balance of Payments Quarterly. |
