*Coverage and Object:
All routes operating under Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation(TRTC), Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation(KRTC), Taoyuan Metro Corporation, New Taipei Metro Corporation(NTMC), and Taichung Mass Rapid Transit Corporation(TMRT).
*Statistical Standard Time:
from the first to the last day of each month.
*Definition of Statistical Items:
(1) Number of passengers: the number of passengers departing from each station, regardless of the distance of their journey, calculated by the number of tickets sold.
(2) Passenger-kilometer: the total distance traveled by the transported passengers during a certain period of time.
(3) Average distance per passenger: The average distance traveled by per passenger on railway routes, that is, the percentage of Passenger Kilometer accounts for Number of Passengers.
(4) Passenger revenue: transportation revenue for carrying passengers.

Calculated based on the passengers in Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation(TRTC), Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation(KRTC), Taoyuan Metro Corporation, New Taipei Metro Corporation(NTMC), and Taichung Mass Rapid Transit Corporation(TMRT).

*Major Change:
(1) Taipei MRT: Mid-volume capacity refers to routes including Wenhu Line; high-volume capacity refers to those including Tamsui Xinyi Line, Songshan Xindian Line, Zhonghe Xinlu Line, and Bannan Line. Taipei MRT Muzha Line started operation on March 28, 1996, bringing the mid-volume capacity operation. On March 28, 1997, Taipei MRT Tamsui Line (Tamsui-Zhongshan) started operation, bringing the high-volume capacity operation and Circuit Line on January 31, 2020. *Statistical Methodology and Source Data:
Collected and compiled based on the data from Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation(TRTC), Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation(KRTC), Taoyuan Metro Corporation, New Taipei Metro Corporation(NTMC), and Taichung Mass Rapid Transit Corporation(TMRT) on a monthly basis in accordance with the number of passenger service trains on all routes.

Data accuracy is ensured through cross-checking passenger use at the starting point and ending point as well as ticket income data.
