What types of fisheries work are included?

Fisheries work refers to the input of fishery-related work or activities when engaging in fisheries production (fishing and aquaculture organisms), fisheries product processing, or recreational fishing services. The scope of fisheries work includes:

1. Fisheries production 

(1) Fishing operations: Includes the use of fishing crafts to fish at sea and process catch, maintenance and repair of production materials including fishing crafts and nets, transport of catch, and relevant fisheries management services, including repair of fishing nets on moored fishing crafts. Fishing operations also include catching fry, shore fishing, gathering of mollusks, and collection of seaweeds without the use of fishing crafts. 

(2) Aquaculture operations: Includes use of fish ponds, shallow marine waters, rivers, or lakes to engage in the incubation, raising, and breeding of aquaculture organisms. 

2. Fisheries product processing: Includes personally engaging in fisheries product processing work, such as drying, pickling, smoking, and salting of seafood products, manufacture of fish oil, manufacture of seasonings, manufacture of canned seafood products, and manufacture of dry shredded fish, fish balls, and snack foods. 

3. Recreational fishing industry: Refers to use of ones' own fisheries production equipment or premises to allow visitors to catch aquaculture organisms or appreciate fishing operations, the maritime ecology, or sea life on a recreational business, and includes educational interpretation, dining, lodging, and sales display work.
