Industry and Service Sector Earnings Statistics in January 2023

i.At the end of January, the total payroll employees were 8,176 thousand, decreased by 25 thousand (or 0.30%) than the previous month.

ii.In January, mainly affected by the Chinese New Year, the average regular earnings of full-time employees with Taiwan nationality (excluding the foreigners and part-time employees) was NT$47,939, increased by 1.10% than the previous month and increased by 2.57% than the same month last year. The irregular earnings such as year-end bonuses, performance bonuses and overtime pays was NT$66,878. After adding the irregular earnings, the average total earnings was NT$114,817, increased by 1.70% than the same month last year.

iii.In January, the average regular earnings of all employees (including full-time and part-time employees with Taiwan nationality and foreigners) was NT$45,376, increased by 0.97% than the previous month and increased by 2.30% than the same month last year. The irregular earnings was NT$62,360. After adding the irregular earnings, the average total earnings was NT$107,736, increased by 1.52% than the same month last year. Among it, the regular hourly earnings of part-time employees was NT$207, increase by 4.02% than the previous month and increased by 0.49% than the same month last year.

iv.The irregular earnings among industries were different. Those with higher irregular earnings were Financial & Insurance Activities (NT$201,260) and Information & Communication (NT$93,276). Manufacturing was NT$65,853, among it, the Manufacture of Electronic Parts & Components was NT$84,969. Nevertheless, Accommodation & Food Service Activities and Support Service Activities (including Travel Agency, etc.) were both under NT$20,000.
