Earnings and Productivity Statistics in October 2016

i. At the end of October 2016, the total nonagricultural payroll employees, at 7,474 thousand, increased by 7 thousand (or 0.09%) from last month. In comparison with October 2015, payroll employees increased by 62 thousand (or 0.83%). The average payroll employees since January 2016 was 7,441 thousand, increased by 63 thousand (or 0.86%) than the same period of last year.
ii. The average monthly regular earnings per employee within the industry and service sector in October 2016 was NT$39,362. Comparing with last month and a year ago, there were 0.58% and 1.08% increasing respectively. Comparing the same period of January to October over last year, the average monthly regular earnings of NT$39,167 was increased by 1.30%.
iii. The average monthly earnings (including regular and irregular earnings) in October 2016 was NT$43,069, decreased by 4.73% from last month and increased by 0.42% from last October. The average monthly earnings since January was NT$49,392, increased by 0.26% than the same period of last year.
iv. The average monthly working hour for industry and service sector in October 2016 totaled to 160.5 hours, mainly affected by the reduction in working-days, which decreased by 1.5 hours from last month and decreased by 17.5 hours from last year. The average working-hour since January 2016 was 168.1 hours, 5.8 hours less than the same period of last year.
