In August 2014, the total nonagricultural payroll employment, at 7,321 thousand, increased by 16 thousand (or 0.22%) than last month. In comparison with August 2013, payroll employees increased by 153 thousand (or 2.14%). The average employment since January 2014 was 7,247 thousand, increased by 135 thousand (or 1.89%) than the same period of last year. The average monthly hours of work in August 2014 was 180.9 hours, decreased by 7.0 hours from last month and decreased by 3.3 hours from the same month of last year. Since January 2014, the average working hours was 175.2 hours, decreased by 0.1 hours than the same period of last year. The average regular earnings in August 2014 was NT$38,288, 0.62% less than last month and 1.77% more than the same month of last year. Average monthly earnings in August was NT$44,502, which was 3.01% less than last month and 5.35% more than the same month of last year. The average regular earnings since January 2014 was NT$38,076, which was 1.63% more than the same period of last year. The average monthly earnings since January 2014 was NT$49,043, increased by 4.53 percent than the same period of last year.
