In May 2016, the total nonagricultural payroll employees, at 7,423 thousand, increased by 5 thousand (or 0.07%) from last month. In comparison with May 2015, payroll employees increased by 59 thousand (or 0.80%). The average payroll employees since January 2016 was 7,420 thousand, increased by 69 thousand (or 0.94%) than the same period of last year. The average monthly working hour for industry and service sector in May 2016 totaled to 175.9 hours, which increased by 13.6 hours from last month and increased by 1.8 hours from last year. The average working-hour since January 2016 was 166.3 hours, 2.7 hours less than the same period of last year. The average monthly regular earnings per employee within the industry and service sector in May 2016 were NT$39,260. Comparing with last month and a year ago, there was 0.05% increasing and 1.61% increasing respectively. The average monthly earnings (including regular and irregular earnings) in May was NT$45,828, increased by 5.21% from last month and increased by 4.52% from last May. Comparing the same period of January to May over last year, the average monthly regular earnings of NT$39,098 was increased by 1.58%. And the average monthly earnings was NT$53,626, reduced by 0.22%.
