May 22, 2015 According to the latest preliminary estimation by DGBAS, Taiwan’s real gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 3.37% in 2015Q1, compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The GDP is projected to grow by 3.28% in 2015.

Preliminary Estimation of GDP in 2015Q1

        Thanks to gains from net exports of goods and services, coupling with the moderate growth of private consumption and investment, Taiwan's real GDP was estimated to grow by 3.37% in 2015Q1, compared to the corresponding quarter of 2014.

        Meanwhile, the economic growth rate of 2014Q4 was revised to 3.47% (formerly 3.35 %). For 2014 as a whole, Taiwan's real GDP grew by 3.77% (formerly 3.74 %).

Outlook for 2015

        Looking forward, the prolonged sluggish growth in global economy and strong competition from abroad, especially from Mainland China in IT industry may limit Taiwan's export momentum. Coupling with the fair growth of domestic demand, real GDP will grow by 3.28% in 2015, 0.5 percentage points lower than previous prediction in Feb. CPI will increase by 0.13%.
