National Statistics, Republic of China (Taiwan)

Do green national accounts calculate the harm to human health caused by environmental pollution and the harm to the environment caused by illegal extraction and illegal exploitation of natural resource?

Due to lack of data sources, losses caused by the illegal extraction of natural resources, as well as social costs caused by environmental pollution (such as harm to human health caused by air pollution), are not yet compiled by most countries. Furthermore, the UN's System of integrated Environmental and Economic Accounting(SEEA) still does not incorporate social costs, which are difficult to quantify and about which the internation society still have many divided opinions. As a consequence, Taiwan does not yet compile these social costs and health damage of pollution, and current compilation results therefore only express the state of certain environmental resources.
