i.At the end of January, the total payroll employees were 8,170 thousand, decreased by 3 thousand (or 0.04%) than the previous month.
ii.In January, mainly affected by the Chinese New Year, the average regular earnings of full-time employees with Taiwan nationality (excluding the foreigners and part-time employees) was NT$46,743, increased by 0.93% than the previous month and increased by 2.95% than the same month last year. The irregular earnings such as year-end bonuses, performance bonuses and overtime pays was NT$69,060. After adding the irregular earnings, the average total earnings was NT$115,803, increased by 51.52% than the same month last year because most companies paid the year-end bonuses and performance bonuses in January (last year, most bonuses were given in the Chinese New Year’s holidays of February).
iii.The average regular earnings of all employees (including full-time and part-time employees with Taiwan nationality and foreigners) was NT$44,369, increased by 0.89% than the previous month and increased by 2.91% than the same month last year. The irregular earnings was NT$64,527. After adding the irregular earnings, the average total earnings was NT$108,896, increased by 51.26% than the same month last year. Among it, the regular hourly earnings of part-time employees was NT$206, increase by 5.10% than the previous month and increased by 6.74% than the same month last year.
iv.The irregular earnings among sectors were different. Those with higher irregular earnings were Financial & Insurance Activities (NT$213,224), Telecommunications (NT$177,807), Air Transport (NT$169,993), and Ocean Transportation (NT$165,230). Nevertheless, Accommodation & Food Service Activities, Other Service Activities (including Hairdressing & Beauty Treatment, etc.), Arts, Entertainment & Recreation, and Support Service Activities (including Travel Agency, etc.), affected by pandemic, were all under NT$15,000.
