Total employment in September 2021 was 11,417,000, which increased by 18,000(+0.16%) form the previous month’s level; however, it decreased by 87,000(-0.75%) from that of the previous year.
The unemployment rate declined by 0.28 percentage points to 3.96 percent in September 2021; the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate also declined by 0.16 percentage points to 3.92 percent. The number of unemployed persons was 471,000 in September 2021, it decreased by 34,000(-6.74%) but increased by 13,000(+2.89%) from the previous month and that of the previous year, respectively.
Labor force participation rate declined by 0.05 percentage to 58.93 percent in September 2021; moreover, it also declined by 0.19 percentage points from that of the previous year.
