Manpower Survey Results in May 2020

      Total employment in May 2020 was 11,462,000, which decreased by 5,000(-0.04%) from the previous month; moreover, it decreased by 22,000(-0.19%) from that of the previous year.

      The unemployment rate rose by 0.04 percentage points to 4.07 percent in May 2020; the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate also increased by 0.06 percentage points to 4.16 percent. The number of unemployed persons was 486,000 in May 2020, which increased by 5,000(+1.01%) and 49,000(+11.20%) from the previous month and that of the previous year, respectively.

      Labor force participation rate was 59.06 percent in May 2020, it remained the same from the previous month; which declined by 0.01 percentage points from that of the previous year.
