Total employment decreased by 5,000(-0.04%) in September to 11,541,000; however, it increased by 144,000(+1.26%) when compared with that of the previous year.
The unemployment rate declined by 0.08 percentage points to 3.48 percent in September; nevertheless, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose by 0.02 percentage points to 3.44 percent. The number of unemployed persons was 416,000 in September, a decrease of 10,000(-2.38%) and 17,000(-4.05%) from the previous month and that of the previous year, respectively.
Labor force participation rate declined by 0.09 percentage points to 59.21 percent in September; however, it rose by 0.04 percentage points from that of the previous year.
